Through its many iterations, Toyota’s trusty Corolla has been reliably transporting families from A to B since 1966. Its latest version – the 2016 Quest – continues in that tradition. Families heading to Durban for their seaside vacation should look no further than this spacious sedan with plenty of capacity in the cab and in the boot, and in its 1.6 litre engine.
The Quest was introduced in 2014 as a more affordable version of the tried and tested Corolla, which has long been a family car of choice. For the drivers in the family, rest assured that this is a well-built, solid sedan that is fuel efficient (7.1 litres per 100km), comes standard with ABS, brake assist and electronic brake force distribution (EBD), handles beautifully (with power steering of course) and performs just as well on side roads as in top gear on the highway – not that it’s going to win any races or anything but it will get you up that hill. When it comes to your precious cargo, you can expect four comfy seats, lots of leg room, air conditioning for those long, hot days of travel, auto door locks and kiddie locks, as well as front and rear seatbelts – plus anti-theft and anti-hijacking of course.
The Quest comes in two varieties: the standard model and the Plus. The latter comes with a built-in four-speaker radio/CD player with a USB input and Bluetooth connectivity. This is a must if you’re planning to do a lot of driving; it allows you to play all the music and audiobooks you need to keep the kids entertained and you awake.
The boot is designed with holiday luggage in mind – it’s wide and deep. The car’s total luggage capacity is around 450 litres – more than enough for suitcases, tog bags, beach gear, fishing gear and maybe even that game console the kids insist on bringing along!
The Corolla Quest is a real cart horse; it’s built for comfort and reliability. You will not regret renting one for your next KZN visit – your family and your pocket will thank you. Contact us to arrange your booking.
