You get two different types of car problems: those that only a mechanic or auto-electrician can remedy, and those that aren’t critical – but down right annoying! For example, a car with no cup holders leads to serious pains in the posterior when grabbing take-aways or when travelling long distances. Luckily, we’ve found a few crazy car hacks that actually work:
- Immobilizer not working from a distance? Hold the remote under your chin while looking at your car, open your mouth, and press the button
- Getting road sick on those long, cramped family holiday trips? Tilt your head to the side and the nausea will pass
- Think your mechanic is conning you? Ask him to take a look at a part you know for sure is in good condition and see what he says
- If you ever find yourself stuck in the mud, use your car’s footwell matts to gain traction
- Watch how fast trucks drive on the road. Truckers share information on road blocks and speed traps
- Tired of your vehicle’s windows fogging up all the time? Cut a potato in half and rub the insides of your windows
- To get those annoying dealer stickers off the back window, wet a wad of newspaper with warm water and place over the sticker for ten minutes
- Not a fan of scalding-hot steering wheels? When parking your car in the sun, turn your wheel 180-degrees. This way the sun will heat the bottom of the steering wheel instead of the top where your hands go
- Got a near-empty tube of whitening toothpaste? Use it to clear foggy headlights! Rub the paste on the plastic cover with a cloth, rinse with water and dry
- Got seat warmers? Prefer to collect your own pizza? Keep your cheesy slices warm by placing your pizza box flat on the passenger seat and activating the seat warmer
- Kids always banging the car doors against the garage walls? Split a pool tube in half long ways and nail these along the side walls where the car doors make contact
- To prevent a fogged-up windscreen on those icy winter mornings, park your car facing east the night before.
