5 Spring-cleaning Tips for Your Car

Highway Bakkie Hire discuss cleaning a car

Every car should have the proper care and attention it deserves. If you put off cleaning a car, you end up with a vehicle that does not perform as it should. Plus, it won’t look great either, whether it’s a Porsche or a Mercedes. Nobody wants a car that has muddy tires or dusty windows!

Our cars at Highway Bakkie Hire are all well-maintained and regularly cleaned. If you rent a car with us for a long period, though, you likely want to know the best ways to keep it in top condition.

Learn How to Spring Clean a Car with Highway Bakkie Hire

Here at Highway Bakkie Hire, we are experts when it comes to car maintenance and cleaning. Whether you want a shiny windscreen or high-performance wheels, we know how to make it happen. Read on to learn how to spring clean a car, or head to our blog for more car-related content.

1. Clear the Clutter

The first step of cleaning a car involves removing clutter. Get a bag and throw out anything and everything you no longer need. You might have some empty water bottles that have been sitting there for far too long, or you might have accumulated a bunch of sweaters that should go back inside your home rather than staying in your car. Whatever you have in there, make sure you de-clutter so that it is ready for cleaning.

2. Brush and Vacuum the Entire Interior

Rather than going straight in with the vacuum, brush the entire interior of the car to loosen any dirt. Don’t forget the surfaces! Once this is complete, go in with the vacuum to remove all dust and dirt. If you have any stains on your seats, try using stain remover to make them look as good as new.

3. Hand Wash the Exterior

You don’t need to take your car to a car wash for it to look sparkling clean. Hand washing can be just as effective! You just need a bucket, car cleaner, a sponge, and a lot of warm water. Take your time, and don’t stop until your car’s exterior is gleaming.

4. Clean the Windows

When cleaning a car, you can’t forget about the windows, as you need to see clearly for safe driving. Use a spray bottle filled with glass cleaner and gently clean the windows using a cloth. If you don’t have glass or window cleaner at hand, you can also use diluted white vinegar for the same cleaning effect.

5. Don’t Forget the Tyres

A fully cleaned car with dirty tyres will not look great. Even if your windows are gleaming, you can’t ignore the tyres! Gently remove all the dirt and mud with a stiff brush, making sure to get into all the small areas. If you regularly drive through muddy areas, it’s a good idea to do this regularly.
